Since no one plays CoH anymore I was wondering if any of you plans to try the new Eastern Front mod due late January or the rerelease of BotB. There are of course the old classics EiR and OMG too.

As I am the BotB-Neo this new EF looks very promissing. At least I will give it a try and I hope it is as good as it is looking like.

Well I tried the Eastern Fronts MOD, it's actually pretty good. It has some ballance problems of course but not worse then when OF was released. First ballance patch came only a few days after release and they are working on the next.
Soviets are in all ways different then existing army's; no retreat, no veterancy, free abilitys, very cheap spamable infantry,no re-crewing of any weapons, global upgrades for your army that only affects new units and free choice on what buildings you want to build ant any time you have resources for it.

The lack of retreat is a bit strange at first (yes that is none, not even later) but combined with the lack of veterancy and the fact that global upgrades that cost munitions (like wehr) only affects units build after upgrade get it makes the Soviets a complete disaster the first few games. You have to swam the enemy and let squad after squad get killed to secure map control. Munitions are with a few exceptions only used for global upgrades that cost 100, 200 or 300.

For those that like skirmish the cpu got a major boost getting a win on medium takes a few tries I would rate the new cpu: n00b, hard, pro and cheating required.
